WINFORMS has been strengthened from the support it receives from its institutional members - representing organizations from government, industry, and academia. These institutional members, most of which employ operations researchers and management scientists in commercial or academic roles, value the Council as a builder of a strong OR/MS community, providing motivation, education, and awareness to those who participate.

Institutional members of WINFORMS have no official obligations. However, on occasion, they offer voluntary assistance, such as providing meeting facilities or printing and copying services. Aside from any voluntary help, WINFORMS appreciates its institutional members primarily for their support of operations research professionals in the Washington area.

For the past ten years, WINFORMS's institutional members have numbered between 20 and 30, while individual membership has varied between 200 and 1000.

Upon joining, each institutional member receives:

• One free admission to the WINFORMS annual symposium
• One complimentary individual membership (for a designated representative)
• Free recruiting space at the annual job fair
• Ten (more on request) free copies of the WINFORMS newsletter, FeedBack
• Recognition as an institutional member in each issue of FeedBack
• Free corporate profiling in FeedBack, space permitting
