New Program: Masters Degree in Military OR at GMU

George Mason University has recently expanded its program offerings in Operations Research (OR) in an effort to better serve the analysis community in the National Capital Region. A track of the Master of Science in OR has been added in the area of military applications. This is the first time that a comprehensive program in this subject been available through a civilian university. In addition, an 18 credit certificate program in Military OR has been established to serve those who do not need a complete masters program.

The Military OR program is just one of the programs available at GMU Department of Systems Engineering and Operations Research. Others include Computational Modeling, Systems Engineering of Transportation Systems, C3I, and Computer-Based Systems. GMU also offer a variety of tracks within the MS in OR and MS in Systems Engineering. All courses taken in a certificate program can also count toward a masters degree. For details, see their website by clicking here.

To start the application process, just follow the basic instructions given here. Most students do not need to take the Graduate Record Exam (GRE) or any other standardized test for admission. For those not ready to commit to a full graduate program, or who just want to try it out, you may apply for Non-Degree Graduate status, which is quick and easy. You need only to fill out one short form and provide a photocopy of your transcript. The process takes just 15 minutes, and you can be in class next semester.
